About Saint-Germain Bakery

 

In 1977, our first bakery opened at Ala Moana Shopping Center.  Since then, Saint Germain Bakery has been treating their customers to delicious, hand-made oven breads and pastries.  We use only the finest and freshest all natural ingredients (no preservatives) with time-honored authentic European recipes.  Our baking methods ensure the highest standard of quality and freshness in each of our products, assuring our customers an experience that is “Delightfully European.” 

 

History

Saint-Germain began as a small section of Tokyu Foods and sold fresh Japanese style breads and French style pastries. 

October 1, 1970 - the section of Tokyu Foods broke off and became the first in-store bakery in Japan.

November 29, 1977 - Saint-Germain Bakery opened its first store in Hawaii inside Shirokiya, located in the Ala Moana Shopping Center.

January 2, 1979 - a central bakery factory was opened to accommodate the increase in production and anticipated increase in the number of stores.

February 1, 1990 - Saint-Germain acquired Dee Lite Bakery to provide quality local bakery products in addition to the Japanese style breads and French style pastries for the people of Hawaii to enjoy.

January 31, 1994 - Dee Lite Bakery Inc. merged with Saint-Germain America, Inc. to become Saint-Germain America, Inc.
